I got my start at People magazine in Los Angeles, reporting on fashion and beauty for the Style Watch section and special issues. I chatted with stars, designers, stylists, and the like for articles and cover stories, including the ever-popular "50 Most Beautiful People" and "Best and Worst Dressed" issues.
During my four years at the weekly, I represented the magazine at L.A. fashion week, scouting the runways for trends, getting the scoop from designers backstage, and interviewing front-row stars. I also reported on awards shows, store openings, and movie premieres.
Next up was a stint as an editor at WeddingChannel.com, the leading wedding-planning website. There, I wrote and edited the "Real Weddings" section, crafted articles on everything from top honeymoon destinations to the hottest registry items, and wrote promotional content for Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma, and other top retail partners.
As part of WeddingChannel's ongoing media efforts, I researched and wrote content for print and radio interviews, and developed concepts for local and national television segments.
I returned to my native Bay Area in 2004, and left WeddingChannel to freelance full time in the fall of 2005. Since then, I've been busy covering fashion, beauty, home, travel, weddings, and more for print and online publications. Outlets I've written for include C magazine, Marin magazine, the
San Francisco Chronicle, The Jewelry Book, InStyle Weddings, Palo Alto Daily News, DailyCandy, Splendora, Glam.com, The Tip Jar, and Citysearch. I was the editor in chief of the premiere issue of Wag Magazine, a luxury lifestyle publication for people with pets, and though the magazine folded due to financial issues, it was named one of the most notable launches of 2007.
I cut back on freelancing and returned to the world of full-time jobs in 2007, when I accepted a position as senior copywriter at Gap.com. There, I wrote marketing and editorial content for the site, including homepages and weekly emails for Gap, babyGap, GapMaternity, and GapKids.
Before resuming my life as a full-time freelancer in the fall of 2009, I was the editor of DogTime Media, where I oversaw content for DogTime.com and the largest pet-related vertical community. I also worked closely with DogTime's marketing team, acted as company spokesperson for TV and radio appearances, and wrote the Save a Dog Facebook application.
I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder and live in San Francisco with my husband and our 12-year-old Lab who still thinks she's a puppy.
